Questions & Answers
Q: If another channel has that name, do we have to come up with something unique?
A: Yes, each channel on our platform must have a unique channel name.
Q: Can a channel name be taken/reserved if someone has set up a submission but never actually submitted for publishing?
A: Yes, as soon as a channel is created (whether officially published or not), that channel name is taken and cannot be used for another channel on the platform.
Q: Does Roku do a cleanup of channel names overtime for unpublished or inactive channels?
A: No.
Q: What if another channel is using the name I want to use for my channel?
A: If you have rights to a channel name that is currently taken, follow our legal process outlined here to claim rights to that name.
Q: Is there a limit for the length of a channel name?
A: Yes. The character limit for channel name length is 30 characters.
Q: Is it possible to change the name of a channel after it is live?
Yes, as long as a channel name isn't in use by another channel, you can update an existing channel's name in the Developer Dashboard (Manage my Channels > Preview and Update > Channel Store info).
After changes are saved, you can schedule when you'd like your channel name changes to go live using our publishing scheduler.
Additional Resources
Once a channel is created with a name, it remains that name in our backend for the lifetime of the channel. It’s possible to choose a channel name (USA TV) and later change the name (USA Television), but the name USA TV is still claimed in our system (and no other channels could use the name).

Where is "channel store info"? I don't see that on my Preview and Publish page.
You'll need to click the dropdown at the top of the page on the Preview and Publish page. More information on how to find and use the Channel Store Info page can be found at https://developer.roku.com/docs/direct-publisher/tutorial/channel-info.md.
